Fermo, on top of a hill 7km from the sea, it is an ancient center, first Piceno (9th century BC) and then Roman. It preserves the urban layout of an ancient and important small Italian city of art. Testimonies from the Roman, medieval, Renaissance, eighteenth-century and nineteenth-century baroque periods.

The art gallery with the late Gothic tables by Jacobello del Fiore and the nativity by Rubens, the seventeenth-century library with the Sala del Mappamondo, the Roman cisterns (built in the first century BC), the oratory of Santa Monica with an important cycle of late Gothic frescoes.
